Longvah is Director grade Scientist & former Director of the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, India. His research interest is on food composition, indigenous food system, micronutrient deficiencies, non-communicable diseases, and biofortification. He is the co-chair of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences task force on Traditional, Indigenous and Ethnic Foods and member of IUNS task force on Food composition & Biodiversity. He is also the regional coordinator for SAARCFOODS. He has published over 70 peer reviewed papers and authored 5 book chapters. His latest book is the “Indian Food Composition Tables” (IFCT 2017) used globally. He is the recipient of the Subhkaran Jatia Memorial Gold Medal 2015 instituted by the All India Food Processors’ Association (AIFPA) and the prestigious Prof Nevin Scrimshaw Award 2017 the highest possible award in the area of food composition instituted by the INFOODS/FAO
